Burrowing Owl Estate Winery Cookbook
Burrowing Owl Estate Winery in Oliver, established in 1993 by the Wyse family, has grown to become one of the Okanagan’s most well-known estate wineries. Their wines, produced by methods that create wines of premium quality, have an almost cult-like following for their exceptional taste and style. After more than three decades of producing award-winning wines, the Wyse family have fine-tuned their philosophy for a good life which they share here, in the very first cookbook published by a BC winery.
The Burrowing Owl Estate Winery Cookbook is a collection of nearly 50 delicious, easy-to-make recipes showcasing varietals and the award-winning wines produced here. Three course dinner menus are inspired by the Wyse family’s travels and favourite dishes, including the offerings at the Sonora Room (their on-site restaurant), and showcase the incredible local produce of the Okanagan region. Each three course menu includes suggested varietal wine pairings carefully selected to enhance one’s culinary experience.
These seasonally inspired recipes offer a fresh take on classic dishes. The recipes and menus were developed, tested and paired by award-winning cookbook author and wine connoisseur Jennifer Schell Lirag.
Partial proceeds from the sale of this book are being donated to the Wyse’s preferred conservation organizations. More than a cookbook, it also features tips on Burrowing Owl wines and wine pairing, a guide to what’s in season in the Okanagan and even information on the winery’s namesake, the diminutive burrowing owl. This comprehensive book celebrates the incredible accomplishments of the Wyse family and welcomes you to their table, wherever you are.
